The Joint Bargaining Committee has reached a tentative agreement addressing concerns that were brought up at the June 29th ratification meeting.
The Joint Committee is now working on securing a location for in-person meetings, preparing documents for the membership, and preparing for electronic balloting.
We can tell you, because of timelines in our respective bylaws, the ratification vote will occur after the August long weekend.
We would like to provide you with an update on the current status of collective bargaining.
First and foremost, we extend our sincere appreciation to everyone who participated in the recent ratification process. Your engagement and feedback have been invaluable in shaping our bargaining priorities and strengthening our position at the negotiating table.
We would like to thank the members who came out and shared their views with the bargaining committee and took the time to cast their ballot. Your participation is greatly appreciated.
The results of the vote were 66% opposed to the current tentative agreement.

Tentative agreement reached for Locals 111 and 2200
Dear Members of Unifor Locals 111 & 2200,
Your joint bargaining committee is pleased to announce that we have reached a tentative agreement with the employer. In the coming days, we will secure a location for the ratification vote and finalize the full memorandum of agreement so that it can be shared with members before the vote.
Thank you for the strong support you showed in the recent strike vote. With a 99.35 per cent strike mandate, your Joint Bargaining Committee has registered the result with the Labour Relations Board.
The parties agreed to additional bargaining dates in the first week of June. We were unable to reach an agreement, and the employer has since applied for mediation. We have agreed to meet with mediator Trevor Sones on June 19 and 20, 2026.
Further to the last notice, the Strike Vote will be held in person on Tuesday May 26, 2026 from 07:00 to 22:00 at the Unifor BC Offices at 326 12th Street, New Westminster. Members of the bargaining committee will be available all day, and in addition, meetings will be held at 07:00, 13:00 and 19:00.
The Joint Bargaining Committee is in a position where we require a strong mandate from the Membership to move forward.
The Bargaining Committees were scheduled to meet with the Employer today, May 19. The Employer has refused to return to the table because the Union is unwilling to accept any concessions in this round of bargaining.
We are now in the position to ask the membership for a strike mandate.
We will contact you shortly with more details regarding where and when this strike vote will take place.
The Joint Committee is sending this from the table as we expect to be here after the support staff goes home for the weekend.
This week has been long, ending late into the evening every night. This is not to be taken as a complaint, these hours have been very productive, we have progressed in all areas of the contract and are down to just a small handful of non-monetary items in a couple of sections.
We continue to progress, slowly, on all areas of the CBA; General, Operations, Maintenance, Seabus, CTS, and Spareboard. We have managed to reach a mutual understanding on a few issues and have sign offs on a few dozen non monetary items.
The Joint Committee will continue bargaining with the Employer again next week and you can expect Bulletin #6 at the end of that week, on Friday March 20th.
